The purpose of New City Christian School is to make high quality Christian education available to families in Asheville and to eliminate the achievement gap for these students. We seek to enroll a student body that is representative of the community in which we live, working hard to help each student acquire the foundation for academic success that will serve them well in school and in life. We like to tell parents that education is spelled S-A-C-R-I-F-I-C-E and that the school will not be able to perform its mission without the sacrifice of parents and relatives---not just financially but also the sacrifice of their time, energy, and prayers in the life of their child and the life of the school.
Our Mission Statement: New City Christian School provides elementary students from varied racial, social, and economic backgrounds with strong foundations for academic, social, and spiritual growth so that these children will be equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and hope to better themselves and our community.
We are located at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, a historical building built in 1934 to house St. Anthony of Padua School. St. Anthony provided high quality education to many African-American students until it closed in 1963.
