Welcome

New City Christian School, Asheville, North Carolina
NCCS is a new private school in the heart of Asheville that opened in the fall of 2006. The school presently offers kindergarten through second grades. The school is housed in Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church at 56 Walton Street and focuses on providing excellent academics, Christian nurture, and service to the community. The school offers a small "family-like" atmosphere with lots of individual attention. Tuition is based on a sliding scale and our goal is to offer affordable private education to any family who is willing to faithfully uphold the mission of the school. Individuals in the community, businesses, churches and foundations make donations that provide the remainder of our operating funds. WE are also blessed with many volunteers from the community. The poet William B. Yeats has written that "education is not filling a bucket, it is lighting a fire". You are invited to call the school if you would like to see how New City is lighting a fire in the lives of our students. The work of educator E.D. Hirsch has been very important to the curriculum and philosophy of our school. He said "In order for a truly democratic and economically sound society to be maintained, young people must have access to the best knowledge available so that they can understand the issues, express their viewpoints, and act accordingly." We strive to prepare such students as we grow to become a K-5th school. We will begin accepting applications for the 2009-10 school year in January of 2009. We will have spots for full and half-day kindergarten students as well as first through third grades. Please call our principal, Lori Woods (776-6228) for information or to obtain an application.
